Returning to the land. But not alone.

All parts of the llama were used. The bones made tools, the hair makes wool for blankets. They participated in the rise of societies. Llama are camelid family. Related to camel. A hybrid of llama and camel exists but they are sterile like a mule which is the more well known horse/donkey cross. llama went extinct on Turtle Island it is suggested that they were eaten to extinction but im not sure i altogether believe that. llama date back 35 million years to the continent. They were domesticated 4 to 6 thousand years ago. Genetic to continue llama were in Peru. Incan.

An adult llama will be around 300 lbs but you should not overload them. There were some differences in opinions on what they can carry. Some hunters are using them and pack them up to 130lbs. Others would say no way keep the load under 100 lbs. more like 80 lbs. An adult human can not ride a llama. They are pack animal beast of burden. Llama eat 40 percent less grass than goats or cows.

The people of Peru decorate their llama and use them in ceremony. Colorful tassels are put on the ears that protect against evil spirits. Llama are suitable for high desert and mountain elevations and terrain. Ready to ditch your car? Mabey someday? Rewild the human being.

Decolonization isn’t limited to humans of course. Many animals played a role in humanity making it this far. Those animals were betrayed and marched off to slaughter houses to be replaced by steam engines and automobiles. Peak oil occured in 2011. The return to the use of animal transportation is logical for some people. Others may choose bicycles or something. Llama are paleolithic camel once from Turtle Island. Llama can play a role in helping us do one of the most radical things possible. A thing people are shy to do but inside they respect and see the need for. Return to the land. When we return to the land we will will not be alone. Animals will be with us. We will experience community and part of that community could be llama. Collaboration with llama will be a sign of being successful. The I.S.R Land Back Food Forest will have a llama. Pressure your local government to allow animal transportation. Advocate for a third lane.
