Shock In The East

“This past week, members of the Illahee Spirit Runners answered a call to action & threw down in solidarity with Appalachians Against Pipelines, & affiliated comrades from the surrounding region! Folks in Appalachia have been fighting the Mountain Valley {natural gas} Pipeline (MVP) for about six years, with a myriad of diverse tactics from petitions, to tree sits, to ground land occupations, protests, marches & other various forms of direct action✊…
While those contracted to build the MVP habitually lie to satisfy their investors by stating that the pipeline is over 70% finished, it surely is NOT, in large part due to YEARS of persistent & evolving direct action that has halted pipeline construction, one of these actions most notably being the almost three year tree sit & free-state created on seemingly sympathetic land-owner’s private property, who was given a notice of “Eminent Domain’ by MVP workers stating that the pipeline would criss their land whether the land owner opposed it or not…
A series of unlikely allyships during the struggle were most definitely a key to some of the struggles long-standing success, & hopefully certainly will continue to be, especially in the realms of returning land back to grassroots indigenous people historically from that territory & New River Watershed.
The Illahee Spirit Runners were happy to help support direct action that once again halted over NINE HOURS of racist resource colonial pipeline work, & will answer the call again if need be!
